To best explain the benefits of massage, we should know what the definition of massage is. Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissue. A therapist may use techniques that include, but are not limited to, kneading, tapping, compression, vibration, stroking, rocking, friction, pressure, and any manipulation or application of pressure to the muscular structure of the body. Massage is not to be used instead of medication or care of a physician. However, it can be used in conjunction with other modes of self-care. Tunnel Syndrome
This style of self-care is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs and can improve the quality of living for people from all walks of life. Anyone can use massage, from the weekend warrior or the competitive athlete, to secretaries and overstressed executives, to the older generations who can just use the comfort of touch. All people can feel the need for a massage at any point in time and for many different reasons. It is most important, though, to take time out and give yourself the attention and care that you need. Please take the time and listen to that inner voice that is asking you to relax, breathe, and enjoy life. Massage is a wonderful way to calm the mind and focus yourself to be a more centered and productive person. It’s not just a temporary relief from everyday stressors; it’s a gateway to a healthier and more fulfilling life. |
